Learning in the 21st Century
OUR JOURNEY
The Pilot
The Orrick R-XI School District has always been progressive, starting conversations about a 1:1 learning environment as early as the Palm Pilot days.
Preparation
The District knew a 1:1 environment would not be successful without a solid technology infrastructure and committed to strengthening that infrastructure in various ways over the years.
The Early Years
With technology ever-changing, it was difficult to decide on what platform to use. After much deliberation, the iPad was chosen and introduced into buildings through the use of mobile classroom carts and individual iPads for teachers.
In March 2014, the Orrick R-XI Board of Education voted to commit funds for the implementation of a 1:1 digital learning environment using iPads. Plans are underway for this initiative to begin Fall 2014.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to prepare our students with 21st century knowledge and skills to succeed as effective citizens, workers, and leaders. To successfully face rigorous higher education coursework, career challenges, and a globally competitive workforce, we must align our traditional curriculum that includes language arts, mathematics, science, history, etc. with critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and
innovation. We will do this by
creating a digital learning
environment in our district.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to focus on student success using technology as a catalyst for achievement.
