SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS
Public Notice of Filing

The Orrick R-XI School District will accept Declarations of Candidacy for any person interested in running for a position on the School Board in the April 3, 2018 election. Persons interested may file at the Superintendent’s office located at 100 Kirkham St., Orrick, MO 64077. Filing will begin on December 12, 2017 at  8:00 AM and will continue during the District’s regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Filing will end on January 16, 2018 at 5:00 PM. The District office will be closed December 23, 2017 through January 4, 2018 and will not be accepting candidate filings on those dates. Candidate filings will not be accepted on days that the district is closed due to inclement weather. There are three (3) positions available with three-year terms. The names of qualified candidates shall be placed on the ballot in order of filing. Senate Bill 686 revised the law whereby school districts which have the same number of candidates file as the number of positions available will not have an election at all. At the April organizational meeting the school district would simply swear in those whom filed. This new law eliminates the cost of an election.
